I didn’t do any pledging or even organize any download parties, but having a couple of minutes after uploading my latest column, I decided it was time to begin working on this blog, again, and Download Day was a good time to do it.  For those unfamiliar with the project the Firefox folks are attempting to make June 17, the release date for Firefox 3, the day on which more copies of the software are downloaded than any other, for a place, they claim in the Guinness Book of Records. The only problem was that I couldn’t find a place from which to download.  After skulking around, it turns out that Download Day does not begin at 00:00 Zulu (formerly Greenwich Mean Time) or 00;00 wherever the International Dateline begins the day, but at 10:00 AM Pacific Time.Programmers! Well….I’ve downloaded the Release Candidate — presumably the “all but final” version of 3.0, a couple of weeks ago, and will get the official release. Maybe even today.
