I have been using sunrocket, for my home telephone service for several months. Except for occasional problems with the firm’s web site from time to time, the service has worked well, and neither I nor my callers have noticed that my phone calls are being conducted on a Voice Over Internet Protocol system. Less than a week after signing up I received a specialized router in expressl. I plugged it into my WiFi router and plugged a telephone into it and was in business on a phone numbers specially assigned by the company. About 3 weeks later my home phone was transferred from the traditional phone system, and I was using solely Sunrocket with my old phone number.
The service comes with a bunch of services including Call Waiting, Caller ID and voice mail answering service — accessible through the phone or the Web — unlimited US and Canadian calling and decent foreign rates. Plus, you get $3 per month rebate on fees charged for international calls.
The cost of all of this is $200 for the year, not including about $9 of tax. (Monthly rates and rates for less than unlimited calling are also available.) The company usually has a deal for new subscribers — a cordless phone, 3 months free and so forth. Today’s deal, good only today, is a second year free, taking the $17 per month fee to $8.50. Hard to beat. If you do sign up, tell them I referred you.
