About 12 hours after George Bush began last night’s address, the AskSam folks announce that the speech, and all of them since 1790, are available in a free download (in AskSam format, of course.)

(If you don’t have the latest version of AskSam you can always download a copy of the free AskSam viewer )

A new searchable database is available on the askSam Web site: 2008 State of the Union address by President George W. Bush - Search the full text of the president’s address in askSam.

Also available is an updated database of all State of the Union Addresses from 1790-2008.

The full press release can be found here.

AskSam has all sorts of things, mostly political and literarye, here,  apparently with an eye towards proving that AskSam is a very convenient way to keep text and publish e-books.  And I guess the demonstration works.
